Harvest 2011
Saturday morning, 7:00am, October 15th 2011
7:00 am, early morning, daylight has just broken over Mount George in the East Napa Valley. The harvest crew of 7 is busy unloading their equipment for the day’s work tasks. We are harvesting this year’s Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on 4-1/2 acres of our small boutique vineyard located here in the Heart of Napa Valley.
Our harvest crew is a bit shorthanded so I proudly volunteered to help pick the ripe grape clusters as time is of the essence. We need to be at the Crush Facility around 3:30 pm this afternoon to keep our appointment time on schedule. I am then given a pair of very sharp pruning shears and we commence the harvesting tasks in mass. The first block of approximately 1 acre, is flat ground and grapes are quickly harvested in about 2 hours time
