9:00 am, we commence the 3-1/2 acre block which is located on hillside terrain (grapes or vines actually grow better on hillside ground).

The sun breaks out and the harvest tasks become even more labor intensive due to the “Indian Summer” weather now at 84 degrees.

Fortunately we have a huge yellow water cooler and nothing tastes better than cool water when you are really parched from jogging up and down the vineyard hillsides.

At 11:30 am, we break for lunch.  The harvest crew leader’s wife shows up with cold drinks, soda and homemade burritos that are almost the size of my forearm.  I welcome the chance to sit down, take a break and nourish my body with this huge burrito and talk to the workers.

12:00 noon, back to work. The hilly terrain area is now completely picked and the remaining 1-1/2 acres is flat ground. We are still hustling, carrying heavy 60 lb. grape filled bins to the waiting large gondolas.
